RECIPE FOR HEMP HONEY OIL

Making honey oil for hemp (CBD) involves infusing honey with decarboxylated hemp flowers or CBD oil to create a, sweet, and potent edible product. The most common method involves gently heating honey with ground decarboxylated hemp, followed by straining.
Ingredients
1 Cup Raw Honey: Local or raw honey is often preferred for its health benefits and consistency.
3.5 grams (1/8 oz) CBD Hemp Flower: High-quality, dried hemp.
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil or Lecithin (Optional): Helps with the infusion process and texture.
Equipment
Double boiler or small saucepan
Cheesecloth or fine-mesh strainer
Baking sheet
Mason jar for storage
Instructions
1. Decarboxylate the Hemp (Activate)
Preheat the oven to 220°F–245°F (105°C–118°C).
Grind the hemp flower into a coarse, crumbly consistency.
Spread the hemp on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 30–45 minutes until the color changes from green to light brown.
2. Infuse the Honey
Boil Method: Place the honey and decarbed hemp into a double boiler or a small saucepan over very low heat.
Simmer: Gently heat for 40 minutes to 2 hours, stirring frequently. Never let the mixture reach a full boil, as this can burn the honey or destroy the compounds.
Optional Oil Method: Mix decarbed hemp with 1/2 cup coconut oil in a mason jar, then place the jar in a pan of hot water (225°F) for 2 hours. After, blend this oil with the honey.
3. Strain and Store
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Place cheesecloth over a funnel and strain the honey into a clean jar.
Squeeze the cheesecloth to ensure all the honey is removed.
Store in a cool, dark place for up to 1-2 months.
Tips for Success
Dosage: 3.5 grams of hemp usually results in a mild to moderate potency.
Strain: Straining is necessary to remove the plant material, which can make the honey taste bitter.
Texture: To avoid separation, you can add 1 tablespoon of sunflower lecithin, which helps the oil and honey blend properly.
